This note is from [Company name], an Estonian private limited company, registry code [Registry code], address [Address]. Contact: [Contact email]. It says what we keep about you, and what we do not.
What this note covers
It covers the Gems & Lemons journal and this website. The journal is a private record of places, follow-ups, dates, trips, and notes. It is not a public review and not a chat. The terms of use are part of this note.
What we keep
For the account we keep your email address and a password we cannot read back. You must be at least 16.
For the journal we keep what you write: places, follow-ups, dates, trips, notes, and a file you attach to your own entry. A file may be a photo, a PDF, or a sound recording.
If you write to the address on the contact page, we keep that message long enough to answer it.
What we do not do
We do not sell what you write. We do not use it for advertising. We do not send you a marketing list. We do not read the journal in the ordinary course of the day.
Who can see a card
You may send a card to a circle you choose: Family, Friends, Other, Work, or the Gem Community. Only that circle can see it. A circle you join is not your circle. A card you send does not give you a card in return.
A Lemon and a Gemlem are not sent to Work or to the Gem Community. A follow-up goes to Family only. A date may go to Family, Friends, and Work. A shared card is text. A photo, a PDF, or a sound recording stays on your entry and is not part of the card.
A person who receives a card may send one short line back, of no more than 40 characters. That line is not a conversation. No alert is sent by email.
The business desk
If you use the desk, the office can see the job card it sent, the hours, the short comment, and a receipt added to that card. The office cannot open your private journal. A place, a Gem, a Lemon, and what you spent stay in your journal.
The Gem Community
A Gem you send to the Gem Community may be counted by place name, street, city, number of Gem visits, and number of people. That count does not include your note or your name. The Gem Community is not the open internet.
Where it is kept
The journal is stored in Singapore. There is not a second copy. You allow us to store what you write there and to show a card only to the circle you chose.
How long
We keep the journal until you delete the account. If you delete the account, that permission ends, except for a record a lawful order already requires us to keep. A message you send to the contact address is deleted when the matter is closed, unless the law requires us to keep it.
What we may read
We may look at an account only to fix a fault you asked us to fix, to answer a lawful order, or where a report concerns a child or a threat of violence. In that last case we may keep the card and notify the police, and we need not write to the sender first.
Cookies
The journal uses a sign-in cookie so the account stays open. This website may store a cookie that remembers your choice about cookies. We do not use either cookie to follow you on other sites.
Payment
Until a price is shown in the journal, the account is free within the limits shown there. When you pay, the payment service takes the card details. We receive the fact of the payment and the plan. We do not store the card number.
Your choices
You may read what you wrote, change it, or delete the account, in the journal. You may ask us for a copy of what we keep about you. You may complain to the Estonian Data Protection Inspectorate, and you may complain to the authority in the country where you live.
Changes
If this note changes, the date below changes and the journal will say so. Date: [Date].
